ThirstyThe thirst is overwhelming... It hits me like a wave of mindless pain. I can hear Mom in the other room, doing who knows what. Man, my mouth feels exceptionally dry. I try to moisten it, and I frown as my tongue hits a spot on my lip. It's a cut, the one I got from bashing my face into the fence at practice the other day. The tip of my tongue prods it, and I wince, a fresh awakening as the cut reopens and lets forth a gushing torrent of blood. I reach for a tissue to stem the flow, but I stop as the taste sets in. It's exuberant, like nothing I've ever eaten or drunken in my entire life. The thought of food makes me salivateThirsty
